Waltham Windmill

Treasures Trophy
10 April 2026

Saxilby Golf Society started there 35th year with a return to Waltham Windmill Golf Club.

Always a challenging course with many water features and trees to gobble up wayward shots.

With an excellent turn out of 32 Members including new blood in Shane Deakin, Stuart Fieldson and Aidan Mahon who all featured at the prize giving.

Scoring was expected to be high but a few were showing some rustiness from the wet winter.

The final outcome saw one of the tightest finishes in Society history with three players finishing on 39 points.

Last years Captain Michael with a fantastic back nine of 23 points including 3 four pointers took the Treasurers Trophy and the honour of the green jacket. Shane Deakin with a back nine of 21 points took the runners up spot and a great start on his Society debut. It was a little hard on third place Neil Houghton who after going out in 22 points couldn't sustain the scoring on the back nine to finish 3rd . The top three finishing 3 points clear of Rob Wilson in fourth.

Two balls came the way of Brian Giles, Stuart Fieldson, Aidan Mahon and a chip in two from Michael Billson.

Nearest the pins went to Captain Steve Leachman, Martyn Lynes, Neil Hodson and Shane Deakin.

To cap a good day Shane was in for the winning team prize with Gary Benson, Andy Ecelson and Bob Newton.

After some excellent fish & chips Chairman Graham Flint presided over the fines of which there were many before handing over to Captain Steve to hand over the prizes to the days successful players.

The Society would like to thank J.M. Automotives for sponsoring the day. To Code Ease for sponsoring the nearest pins and John J Doe & Sons for sponsoring to twos.
So a good start to the 2026 campaign.

The next fixture is the T. C. Maddison Memorial Trophy at Rufford Park on Friday the 8th May.

We would like to thank Agrigem Ltd who have once again sponsored the day
