Secretary's Trophy

After an absence of 29 years Saxilby Golf Society made a long awaited to Normanby Hall Golf Club at Scunthorpe.
 
A healthy turn out of 27 Members made the pilgrimage to the parkland course.
 
Unfortunately some of the fairways had suffered from the recent dry period so scoring wasn't as high as expected but it led to a very tight outcome at the conclusion of play.
A card countback was needed to determine the podium places and the winner of the Secretary's Trophy.
 
The fact all 3 leading competitors scored 35 points shows how close it was.
 
Once again President Ernie Dyson defied his years to take top spot with 35 points [BN21] with Lee Hayward on his return from injury taking the runners up berth with 19 0n the back nine. The final podium position went to Brian Giles who couldn't capitalise on his front nine of 20 points and had to settle for 3rd also with 35 points.
 
Nearest the pins went to Adi Kitchinson [2], David Thorpe, Stuart Fieldson and Lee Hayward. Adi converting one of them into the only two ball of the day.
 
The team prize went to Dyson, Giles, Thorpe and Martyn Lynes.

The October fixture sees a visit locally to Lincoln Golf Club for The Societies Memorial Day. Once again we thank Cliff Bradley & Sons Funeral Directors for Sponsoring the day. Friday 16th October with a 10.34 tee off.
